In Budva, the Association of Security Managers of Montenegro organized the conference "Security without compromise", which addressed the current challenges of regional companies in the field of corporate security.
Mitja Trampuž, CEO at CREAPLUS, and President of the AI4SI initiative and Vice president of the Section for Cyber Security, which operate within the Association for Informatics and Telecommunications at the Slovenian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, was an invited guest at the "Security without Compromise" conference in Budva on April 11 and 12. Trampuž participated in a panel discussion entitled "The strong hand of technology: artificial intelligence in the modern security environment". Speakers from the banking, education, IT services, and cybersecurity sectors discussed the use of artificial intelligence in risk assessment, incident management, and cybersecurity system automation.
"Artificial intelligence is certainly helping to increase the effectiveness of inhouse cybersecurity teams, SoC operators, and cyber threat detection and response service providers. However, human knowledge is still the key to this story, especially when it comes to understanding what is happening during the incident and the consequences of a certain decision," Trampuž emphasized.
Trampuž highlighted the security challenges posed by artificial intelligence in the hands of adversaries, noting that all modern cybersecurity solutions already use artificial intelligence technologies, especially machine learning and automation of threat detection and response processes. Artificial intelligence is now a tool without which cybersecurity can no longer fight malicious adversaries on equal terms.
Commenting on the rapid adoption of artificial intelligence in security solutions, Trampuž noted that security in the digital business environment remains multilayered.
"One is cyber threat detection and response, the other is information security approaches such as data backups, business continuity, data encryption, managing identities, privileges, access - authorizations and responsibilities," Trampuž explained.
Companies need competent partners who understand how to use AI to improve their own efficiency and productivity. Trampuž concluded that no matter how we turn the tables, cybersecurity today and tomorrow will not be able to cope without artificial intelligence complemented by human expertise.
